Getting started

Setup Guide

Welcome! This is where you will find everything you need to get the Minecraft roleplay server up and running. Follow the steps below in order.

Before you begin

You need WinRAR to unpack the modpack. WinRAR is free to use — the option to purchase it is completely optional.

  1. Install WinRAR

    If you do not have it yet, download and install WinRAR first.

  2. Download CurseForge

    Open the link and choose the option Download Standalone.

  3. Install CurseForge

    Double-click the CurseForge installer and follow the installation steps provided by the app.

  4. Get the modpack

    Download the modpack archive. Keep the file somewhere you can find it again — you will need it a few steps later.

    WinRAR is required for this step.

  5. Create your CurseForge profile

    Once you have opened CurseForge:

    1. Click on Minecraft.
    2. Select Standard.
    3. Click + Create.
    4. Give your modpack a name — Blackreach is recommended so it is easy to identify.
    5. Select version 1.20.1.
    6. Leave Game Type set to Forge.
    7. Make sure the Forge version is 47.4.22 or higher.
    8. Click Create.

    CurseForge will now take some time to download and prepare your profile.

  6. Install the mods

    Once your profile has finished setting up:

    1. Click the three dots next to the Play button.
    2. Select Open Folder.
    3. Navigate to the mods folder.
    4. Drag the downloaded WinRAR/ZIP file into the mods folder.
    5. Right-click the ZIP file and select Extract Here.
    No mods folder?

    Simply create it yourself: right-click → New → Folder, and name it mods.

    Once the files have been extracted you should see multiple files inside the mods folder. You can delete the original ZIP file if you want — keeping it will not cause any issues.

    Close the folder and return to your CurseForge profile. If everything was done correctly, all installed mods now show up under the Content tab.

  7. Boot up Minecraft

    Click Play in CurseForge.

    Before joining the server, create a singleplayer world to make sure everything is working correctly. You should notice that your character moves differently — that means the required mods are active.

  8. Join the server

    1. Return to the Minecraft main menu.
    2. Click Multiplayer.
    3. Add the server using the provided server information.
    4. Join the server.

    You should now be ready to play.

Having problems?

Troubleshooting

If you encounter an error, go through the steps above again and make sure everything has been installed and configured correctly. The usual suspects:

  • Wrong Minecraft version — it must be 1.20.1.
  • Forge older than 47.4.22.
  • The ZIP was dropped into mods but never extracted.
  • Mods extracted into a subfolder instead of mods itself.
